How the Ford Mustang Mach-E is Mixing Muscle Cars with Electricity

Ford’s decision to call its new EV the Mustang Mach-E drew mixed comments from Mustang lovers. The storied high-performance coupe was reinvented as a four-door family car, an SUV, and a soundless electric vehicle in a triple punch. Ford has now announced that it will bring back a limited-edition, track-focused V8 Mustang Mach 1 muscle vehicle, a few months before the EV is introduced to the public.

Although the Mustang Mach-E may not seem exactly like a typical Mustang, it nevertheless has a very modern appearance for a midsize SUV. While the flowing curves and bulging sheet metal give it a streamlined, shark-like cool, the flat black spoiler and surrounding trim make the already-sleek roofline seem much more so. Driving a Mach-E is an absolute delight. The handling is steady and balanced. The acceleration is good yet doesn’t seem overly flashy or risky.

Whisper, Engage, and Unbridled are the names of the three different driving modes. Each delivers unique enhancements to the driving experience, such as altered steering, different pedal feel, upgraded gauge cluster visuals, and sound that has been specially adjusted. Unbridled mode, which is characterized as having the most aggressive driving behavior, is the most severe.

Unbridled is the most sporty driving option, as would be anticipated. With its tight steering and quick acceleration, Engage is said to be the driving mode that most closely resembles a Mustang.

Ford was hesitant to introduce a fully silent Mustang to the public, even though electric vehicles are not often recognized for their driving noises. For the Mustang Mach-E, the carmaker developed 30 distinct sound profiles, utilizing Blade Runner and Batman’s Tumbler as models. When the EV is turned on, you hear a sound resembling menacing sci-f- theme music or a little bass slap.
