2017 Ford Fusion Safety Review

The 2017 Ford Fusion is known for its sleek and elegant style, but it also offers a slew of advanced safety features to help you drive with confidence and control wherever you're headed in Wayne, Paterson, or Clifton. In the following post, Wayne Ford takes a closer look at the advanced safety features available with the Ford Fusion.

Standard Rear-View Camera

We could all use an extra set of eyes when backing out of driveways or parallel parking. Luckily, every 2017 Ford Fusion comes with a rear-view camera, which displays a multi-color image of the area behind the vehicle in real time while in reverse.

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

One of the most innovative safety features available with the 2017 Ford Fusion is its Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection system. When a car, pedestrian, or obstacle moves into the Ford Fusion's path, it alerts you to slow down. It can also apply the brakes if necessary, helping to prevent a collision or reduce its impact.

Blind Spot Information System

The 2017 Ford Fusion's available Blind Spot Information System includes radars in its rear quarter panels that detect when a vehicle is in a blind spot. If a car is in a hard-to-see place, it'll alert you with an indicator light in the corresponding mirror.

Cross Traffic Alert

The Ford Fusion's optional Cross Traffic Alert safety feature monitors for traffic behind it as you're backing up using radar. If it detects a vehicle advancing from up to 15 yards away, the system warns you with an audible alert and visual displays in the message center and corresponding mirror.

Inflatable Rear Seatbelts

The 2017 Ford Fusion is the first vehicle in its class to offer inflatable rear seatbelts, which are designed to spread energy from collisions across more of the torso than a traditional belt. This helps to reduce the chances of rear passengers getting injured and provides additional support to the neck and head.

Lane Keeping System

A Lane Keeping System available with the 2017 Ford Fusion comes with a lane-keeping aid, lane-keeping alert, and a camera mounted behind its windshield to monitor the vehicle's position in relation to road markings. If you begin drifting from your lane, the system warns you with steering wheel vibrations mimicking the sensation of rumble strips. Its lane-keeping aid applies steering torque to get the Fusion back on track, helping to prevent an accidental departure from your lane.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go

To help maintain a safe following distance behind the vehicle in front of you, the Ford Fusion offers an Adaptive Cruise Control system with Stop-and-Go. The Fusion's available Adaptive Cruise Control system includes a radar sensor that monitors when traffic slows down and speeds up, adjusting your speed as necessary. A Stop-and-Go feature can bring the vehicle to a complete halt, restarting it as you begin moving again.
