2018 Ford Focus Maintenance Schedule

The Ford Focus is a high-performing sedan in the Wayne, Paterson, Clifton, and Montclair areas. And to help keep it that way for as long as possible, it'll need to get regular maintenance.

To help you determine what kind of service your vehicle will need at any given time, our team at Wayne Ford created this 2018 Ford Focus maintenance schedule. Read all about it below, and contact us if you have any questions.

Every Month

You'll need to get the following items checked on your Ford Focus every month...

  • Engine oil level.

  • Function of all interior and exterior lights.

  • Tires (including spare) for wear and proper pressure.

  • Windshield washer fluid level.

  • Fuel and water separator. Drain, if necessary.

  • Holes and slots in the tail pipe to make sure they're functional and clear of debris.

Every Six Months

After every six months, the below items will need to be checked out...

  • Battery connections. Clean, if necessary.

  • Body and door drain holes for obstructions. Clean, if necessary.

  • Cooling system fluid level and coolant strength.

  • Door weatherstrips for wear. Lubricate, if necessary.

  • Hinges, latches and outside locks for proper operation. Lubricate, if necessary.

  • Parking brake for proper operation.

  • Safety belts and seat latches for wear and function.

  • Safety warning lamps (brake, ABS, airbag and safety belt) for operation.

  • Washer spray and wiper operation. Clean or replace blades as necessary.

Every 7,500 to 10,000 Miles

You should be getting an oil change after every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, assuming you're doing normal daily commuting (it becomes more frequent with more severe driving). After this mileage interval, the following vehicle maintenance will need to be completed...

  • Change engine oil and filter.

  • Rotate tires, inspect tire wear, and measure tread depth.

  • Perform a multi-point inspection (recommended).

  • Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with a dipstick).

  • Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses, and parking brake.

  • Inspect engine cooling system strength and hoses.

  • Inspect exhaust system and heat shields.

  • Inspect half-shaft boots.

  • Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, and tie-rod ends. Lubricate if equipped with grease fittings.

  • Inspect the wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness, or drag.

Every 20,000 & 30,000 Miles

The 20,000-mile check will include the above-mentioned items, as well as replacing the cabin air filter.

After 30,000 miles, you'll complete the 10,000-mile check, plus replace the engine air filter.

Every 60,000 & 100,000 Miles

After 60,000 miles, you'll follow the 30,000-mile check, plus change the manual transmission fluid and replace the spark plugs.

If your Focus still runs smoothly after 100,000 miles, then you've done a great job at keeping up with the necessary maintenance. At this point, you'll follow the 20,000-mile check, plus replace the spark plugs, change the engine coolant, and inspect the accessory drive belt or belts.
