2018 Ford Edge Maintenance Schedule

The 2018 Ford Edge is a dependable compact SUV for many drivers throughout Wayne, Paterson, Clifton, and Montclair. But to help keep it lasting for the years and miles, it'll need to get regularly checked on at a reliable Ford dealership.

To help you determine what work the Edge needs at any given time, our team at Wayne Ford created this informative 2018 Ford Edge maintenance schedule guide. Read through it below, and contact us if you have any questions.

Every Month

The 2018 Ford Edge will need to have the following items checked each month...

  • Engine oil level.

  • Function of all interior and exterior lights.

  • Tires (including spare) for wear and proper pressure.

  • Windshield washer fluid level.

Every Six Months

After every six months, have the following items checked out...

  • Battery connections. Clean, if necessary.

  • Body and door drain holes for obstructions. Clean, if necessary.

  • Cooling system fluid level and coolant strength.

  • Door weatherstrips for wear. Lubricate, if necessary.

  • Hinges, latches and outside locks for proper operation. Lubricate, if necessary.

  • Parking brake for proper operation.

  • Safety belts and seat latches for wear and function.

  • Safety warning lamps (brake, ABS, airbag, and safety belt) for operation.

  • Washer spray and wiper operation. Clean or replace blades as necessary.

Every 7,500 to 10,000 Miles

The Ford Edge will need an oil change regularly, but how often that is can vary. The general rule of thumb is about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles for normal driving (that number becomes more frequent with severe or extreme driving).

But every time the car gets an oil change, the following work will need to be completed...

  • Change engine oil and filter.

  • Rotate tires.

  • Perform a multi-point inspection (recommended).

  • Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with a dipstick).

  • Inspect brake pads, rotors, hoses, and parking brake.

  • Inspect engine cooling system strength and hoses.

  • Inspect exhaust system and heat shields.

  • Inspect rear axle and U-joints (all-wheel drive only).

  • Inspect half-shaft boots.

  • Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends, driveshaft, and U-joints (all-wheel drive only).

  • Inspect tires and tire wear, and measure tread depth.

  • Inspect wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness, or drag.

Every 20,000 & 30,000 Miles

When the Edge reaches 20,000 miles, you'll get the above-mentioned work completed, plus replace the cabin air filter.

After 30,000 miles, you'll follow the 7,500- to 10,000-mile group of work, and also replace the engine air filter and change the automatic transmission fluid.

Every 60,000 & 100,000 Miles

After reaching 60,000 miles, the 2018 Ford Edge will need to have its spark plugs replaced, along with all the work from the 20,000- and 30,000-mile checks.

If the car is still running smoothly after 100,000 miles, then you've done a great job at keeping up with all the recommended maintenance. At this point, the only new item you'll need to get taken care of is inspecting the accessory drive belt or belts (which will need to be replaced after 150,000 miles).
