Ford Escape Review

Though it's always been a popular choice among crossovers, the Ford Escape  experienced many changes in recent years. From a revamping mid-cycle in 2017 to small revisions for 2018, the Ford Escape has undergone a number of refreshments to its exterior styling, interior design and featured technology.

Drivers in Wayne, Clifton, Paterson, and Montclair can check out all the updates and features for the new 2018 Ford Escape with our in-depth model review. Feel free to contact us today with any questions or to setup an appointment.

The base engine for the 2018 Ford Escape is a 2.5L inline-four that produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, with an optional 1.5L EcoBoost® inline-four that produces 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque and a 2.0L EcoBoost® inline-four that produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. All engine offerings are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive.

All the Escape's engine configurations offer powerful and quick acceleration, but the turbocharged 2.0L is exceptionally fast. The transmission is responsive, and the smooth ride is enhanced by the advanced power distribution system. In extreme weather conditions, the Escape is athletic and surefooted, and backed by an effective braking system.

Though it has a lot of competition in the crossover category, none of its competitors offer the same responsive steering, sharp handling, and exceptional body control of the Escape.

Ford's SYNC® 3 infotainment system is standard with the Escape. Known for its intuitive interface and clear graphics, the SYNC® 3 is one of the best infotainment systems on the market. It also includes Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, as well as multiple apps for monitoring vehicle health and remote access via smartphone.

Active safety features include a standard rearview camera, and available Adaptive  Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, active park assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, automatic high beams, Forward-Collision Warning with automatic braking, Lane Departure Warning and Intervention, and a new warning system that alerts the driver if the vehicle senses that they may be falling asleep. In addition, the Escape offers voice commands for its system, which limits distracted driving.

Cargo and Comfort

Thanks to its smooth ride and spacious interior, the Escape is a comfortable ride for long distances. It offers plenty of head and legroom throughout, and there are available power-adjustable seating, heating and ventilation options, and lush materials to enhance driver and passenger comfort.

With 60/40-split folding rear seats that fold completely flat, the Escape has ample space in the cargo bay. Throughout the cabin, there are also small bins, compartments, and cubbies for smaller items, and a deep center console for driver's storage.
